250 SQ actuators in Dapu Thermal Power Plant in China

A few months ago, Bernard Controls equipped a Chinese thermal power plant with 250 INTELLI+® electric actuators in Dapu County, Guangdong Province, China.

The construction of this two-unit coal-fired power plant (2* 600 MW) started in 2014 when the Guangdong Yudean Group decided to upgrade the facilities. Bernard Controls China, well implanted in the region, took part in this huge project and supplied quarter-turn electric actuators with INTELLI integrated control.

These SQ models were installed on two different parts of the site: first, in the desulfurization process (115 actuators). Then, on dampers, cooling water system and waste water treatment system with 135 actuators overall. For instance, dampers control the primary and secondary air on the plant, by blowing the high pressure air and providing enough air to burn the coal powder.

Moreover, Siemens provided their PCS7 distributed control system (DCS). Almost all equipments have been connected to it. Thus, a redundant Profibus DP fieldbus was requested by the contractor for the DSC to communicate information and commands with multiple actuators wired in series.

Dapu Thermal Power Plant has been finally approved as functional after a full week of tests: During these 168 hours where the plant run 100% of its capacity, the whole 250 SQ electric actuators proved to operate perfectly. BERNARD CONTROLS CHINA’s team was pleased to participate in this successful project!
